Principal, Reliance Risk
Wayne Middleton has over 30 years’ experience as a venue manager, event manager and risk management consultant across the public venue, events, sport and entertainment industries. He has worked internationally across Oceania, Asia and North America assisting clients host safe and successful local, national and international major events.
He is the owner of risk management consultancy, Reliance Risk and founder of risk management software, RiskSense101. Reliance and its software helps clients across Australia and New Zealand minimize threats and maximise opportunities.
Wayne is also the current Chair of the Venue Management School hosted by the Venue Managers Association (Asia/Pacific).
Wayne holds a Masters’ in Risk Management, a Bachelor of Administration, is a Certified Venue Executive under the International Association of Venue Managers and holds a Certificate IV in Security Risk Management.

Leave Nothing To Chance: A Suite of Risk Areas Affecting Major Events
This panel discussion follows a presentation on the general overview of security and safety from a national perspective for Australia and its position in relation to the global marketplace. The presenter will ‘set the scene’ before joining other panel members in a discussion on risk areas concerning the events sector including readiness testing, crowd management, safety, security, risk management, compliance and vigilance. The panel will discuss issues from both the aspect of the general security environment in addition to the internal operations of undertaking an event.
